- Natural resource :example :river, soil
- Human made resource: example :Table, chair
- Human resource: example: Teacher, pilot CLASSIFICATION OF RESOURCES
- On the basis of development
- Actual resources
- Potential resources
- On the basis of origin
- Biotic resource
- Abiotic resource
- On the basis of stock
- Renewable resources
- Non renewable resources
- On the basis of distribution
- Ubiquitous
- Localised
- On the basis of development
ACTUAL RESOURCES
Actual resources are the resources whose quantity is knknow. These resources are being used in the present. for example the rich deposits of coal in Ruhr region of Germany and petroleum in the West Asia ,the dark soils of Deccan Plateau.
POTENTIAL RESOURCES
Potential resources are those resources whose entire quantity may not be known . These are not being used at present .These resources could be used in the future .for example uranium found in Ladakh.
ABIOTIC RESOURCES
These resources are non living .for example soil, rock and Minerals.
BIOTIC RESOURCES
These resources are living. For example plant and animals.
RENEWABLE RESOURCES
- These resources get renewed or replenished quickly.
- They are unlimited.
- They are eco friendly
- They are less expensive
- They are ubiquitous
- Example land, water air and soil
NON RENEWABLE RESOURCES
- These resources do not get replenished quickly
- They have Limited stock
- They are not eco friendly
- The are more expensive
- They are local resource
- Example – Coal ,Petroleum ,natural gas
UBIQUITOUS RESOURCES
- These resources are found everywhere.
- They are accessible to all the people.
- Example :land ,water ,air soil
LOCALISED RESOURCES
- They are found in certain areas
- They are not easily accessible to all the people.
- Example: coal,petroleum
HUMAN RESOURCES

- Minimise the depletion of natural resources.
- Change personal attitude and practices towards the environment.
HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT
Improving the quality of peoples skills so that they are able to create more resources is known as human resource development.
RESOURCE CONSERVATION
Using resources carefully and giving them time to get renewed is called resource conservation.
