• HUNTERS – Who hunt animals.
• GATHERS – Who collect food for further use.
• HERDERS – People who gaze animals like :- Goat, sheep, cattles and etc.
• FARMERS – Person who grow crops.
• MANUSCRIPT – Handwritten records on palm leaf or bark of trees Eg :-Ramayana , Mahabharta ,  Vedas
• INSCRIPTIONS – Words engraved on hard surface , stones , coins , pillars and monuments .
• ARCHAEOLOGIST – People who study the physical remains  to know about the past .

Question 1 – What is History ?

Ans – (i) It is study of past.

(ii) It tells us about what people did and how they lived

Question 2 – Why do we need to study history ?

Ans – Reasons to study history :-

1. It gives us identity
2. Educates and aware us from the mistakes done by our ancestors in past
3. By studying the past , we understand our present better
4. It makes us more open minded

Question 3 – Where did  the early people live and why ?

Ans – Early people lived in the forest and near to the banks of river so that they can get the sufficient water for drinking , bathing and washing clothes  .

Question 4 – Name areas where  agriculture developed first and which crops were grown by early people ?

Ans – Areas where agriculture was developed first were sulaiman and kirthar hills and crops were – wheat and barley .

Question 5 – Why early people travelled from place to another place ?

Ans –  1.  In search of food , shelter , water .

Question 6 – Write the difference between Manuscript and Inscriptions?

Ans – Manuscript – It is written on Palm leaf of Bark of trees.

          Inscriptions – It is engraved on hard surface.

Manuscript – It can be easily rubbed or destroyed.

Inscriptions -It cannot rubbed or destroyed easily .

Manuscript -It cannot be harmful while writing on  palm leaf .

Inscriptions – It can be harmful while writing / engraved on on the hard surface .

          Manuscript – Eg. Vedas , Mahabharata , Ramayana  and etc.

          Inscriptions – Monuments , stones , coins  and etc.

Question 7 – Write the difference between Advantages and Disadvantages ?

Ans – Advantages – It cannot be easily destroyed or rubbed on hard surface

          Disadvantages – The record return on it cannot changed

          Advantages –While writing on palm leaf cannot be harmful to us.

          Disadvantages – While writing on hard surface can be harmful to us

Question 8 – Why historians are called detectives ? 

Ans – Because historians find out about past through the various remains of past as clues like a detective .

Question 9 – What is the full form of BC , AD , BCE , CE .

Ans – BC – Before Chirst

AD – Anno Dominini or After Death

BCE – Before Common Era

CE – Common Era
